Susan Sontag's Against Interpretation, 1964 and Interview with Agnes Martin, 1997
Sontag's essay Againt Interpretation was a little wordy but I get the point, I myself hate interpretation but I can see the point that when we interpret something we somehow get lost and lose all sense of what we were trying to interpret. I also agree on the point that film if anything is the most strongest art form due to the fact that no one really needs to interpret it, that it's so straight forward.
As for the interview I think that Agnes Martin had the same idea about interpretation, and with her work she somehow avoided it. from her it makes sense because she seems to make it out of nothing.......
some questions....
For my work to be not interpreted do I have to create nothing?
How do I make nothing but not something that is abstract?
